Today is NOT the date of the traditional Burns supper at the Johannes Gutenberg University here in Mainz. It was originally scheduled to take place today but then the organisers figured out that the date was uncomfortably close to the end-of-semester exams and that they would find it difficult to attract student volunteers to help put on the event. Too bad. Perhaps next year?

Big day today … For my niece at least. She's on a flight to Istanbul and then after a couple of days there will be going on to Bangkok. Huge adventure! She plans to travel around south-east Asia for several months (or until she runs out of money, presumably). At first she will be travelling with a friend but the other girl apparently needs to go home sooner.

Today is the 400th day of my unbroken streak on Duolingo! I started using Duolingo in December 2023 originally to brush up on my Esperanto, but then pivoted to Spanish when it became clear that we would spend our holidays in Spain in 2024.
