There's not a lot to say about today – just a normal working day with no special events.
- On University Challenge tonight, the University of Warwick removed another Oxford college (Oriel) from the competition. Good. There are way too many of those around. I wonder why Oxford and Cambridge get to field a team for virtually every college there while other universities (even other universities with colleges such as Durham) are only allowed one.
- At our team retrospective at work in the afternoon, the “ice-breaker question” was “Which fictional country or world would you like to visit?” I'd like to go to a world where all the idiots are gone. Just imagine: No Donald Trump, no Vladimir Putin, no most-other-politicians, … it would be sheer paradise.
- Today would have been my great-grandmother's birthday. She passed away in the early 1980s (I don't remember the exact date) a few days before she would have turned 101, and she was quite the feisty lady in her time. She was living in her own flat and used to climb into the bathtub every morning for a cold shower. It was just that one fine morning she didn't wake up again. Probably one of the better ways to go, all things considered.
