Delaware Valley Gold

I ordered the Delaware Valley Gold CD and book from the Leeds Branch bookshop, and the package finally arrived today!

The Brexit surcharge this time was €3,18 in import duty and taxes, and an outrageous €7,50 (including VAT) to DHL for the privilege of paying the other €3,18. Thanks Boris. But it was totally worth it – the CD, or in fact two CDs in a “double album”, one recorded by the “Delaware Valley Branch Musicians” (Adam Oleksa, Josh Burdick, Kirsten Erwin, Jane Roberts, and Dave Wiesler) and the other by Thistle House (David Courret-Knight, Dan Emery, and Dave Wiesler again), is 100% amazing and wonderful. The CDs' 29 tracks contain a total of nearly 2½ hours of tunes, many original, in beautiful, dense arrangements of lively jigs and reels and haunting strathspeys featuring fiddles, cello, various flutes and whistles, assorted bagpipes, guitar, and piano. SCD music doesn't get better than this. I can't wait to use these CDs in class, especially since in the accompanying book there are dances to go with many of the tracks.

Thanks to Doug Macdonald for the recommendation, and to Christine Parker-Jones of the Leeds Branch bookshop for her invariably great service.
