Just a brief note to document that the second four hours of this month's SCD taster session went fine – we finished with The White Cockade and The Machine without Horses, and while the dancing could have been improved in a few places, everybody finished together and in the correct places! The dancers were generally happy with the workshop and some of them are considering coming on Tuesdays.
We're driving through Mainz-Kastel on our way home because we don't want to end up in a traffic jam again; this is a bit of a detour and whether it is actually any faster is probably debatable, but we're moving and psychologically, having that sort of agency is often better than standing in a long line of cars on the motorway. Apparently the construction is only happening on weekends, so we will need to warn Joe (and possibly Christine) to allow extra time for getting to our music rehearsal on Saturday week.
We're also stopping in at the Barbarossa bakery because we feel we have earned a little treat (and of course we didn't have lunch). It turns out they have joined the current “Dubai” fad and are offering pieces of a pistachio-flavoured cream cake with crunchy bits, which is completely delicious, but of course pretty much everything they make is yummy. The rest of the day is mostly putting our feet up.
