Practicing for the Frankfurt Ball

The 54th Frankfurt Spring Ball is nigh! Well, perhaps not that nigh – there are three months to go! But it's worth making a plan for how we in the FSCDC e.V. will prepare for it.

There are 12 Tuesdays between now and the Ball. The FSCDC e.V. AGM is on 28 January, and the February Mini-Social is on the 25th; we don't plan to make this a dress rehearsal for the Ball but may include a few dances from the programme just because we can. Plus, Yulia Nedogreeva is going to guest-teach for one night in early February, so that leaves us with 9½ dates where we can teach dances from the Ball programme. There are 18 dances on that programme, so if we manage two dances per night on average we should be fine. In fact, we'll try for a little more so we can have the last Tuesday before the Ball (1 April) free for request repetitions.

The challenge, of course, is to arrange the dances in a way that makes it somewhat feasible for people who start in January to dance at least a few dances at the Ball (if they want to). People who started last year will totally be expected to be able to manage most of the dances! We want to cover most of the dances during the first hour of the evening so everyone will have the chance to participate. We'll also factor in opportunities for Marie and Jan to teach, which should be an interesting challenge.

Anyway, a tentative schedule has been set and I sent it to Marie and Jan for comment. Let's see how this works out!
